Japanese classification society ClassNK has granted Products & Solutions certification under its Innovation Endorsement framework to Accelleron’s Tekomar XPERT Engine and Emissions Desk digital solutions.
The two tools, which form part of Swiss turbocharging and digital solutions company Accelleron’s LOREKA360° suite, are currently deployed on around 3,000 vessels.
ClassNK reviews data and analytics functions
The certification followed ClassNK’s assessment of the solutions’ data acquisition, data handling and analytics functions, as well as relevant security documentation.
ClassNK’s Innovation Endorsement framework provides third-party certification for innovative maritime products and solutions, including digital technologies designed to support vessel operations and energy efficiency.
The certification provides an independent assessment of the digital tools as shipping companies face increasing requirements around emissions monitoring, carbon-intensity management and regulatory reporting.
Tekomar XPERT Engine monitors engine performance
Tekomar XPERT Engine is designed to evaluate the performance of engines across different makes and sizes.
The platform provides engine performance analysis, optimisation recommendations and operational visibility. It also enables benchmarking at both individual-vessel and fleet levels, allowing operators to compare performance and identify areas for improvement.
Emissions Desk supports IMO and EU reporting
Emissions Desk uses data from Tekomar XPERT Engine and combines it with additional analysis from a team of experienced mariners to provide emissions advisory and compliance reporting.
According to ClassNK, the certified functions include Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) visualisation, support for CII rating forecasts and automated regulatory reporting for IMO Data Collection System (DCS) and EU Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) requirements.
The reporting software can also transfer data directly to the ClassNK MRV Portal.
Independent validation adds assurance for emissions data
The certification comes as shipowners and operators face tighter requirements for monitoring fuel consumption, emissions and carbon intensity under international and regional regulatory frameworks.
Independent validation of digital systems can provide additional assurance around the collection, processing and use of data for compliance and operational decisions.
Shailesh Shirsekar, Head of Global Operations and Sales, Digital Solutions at Accelleron, described the certification as “valuable independent recognition” of the tools’ data processing and analytical functions. He added that ClassNK’s confirmation is expected to support uptake of these solutions and the wider LOREKA360° suite among owners and operators in Japan and globally.
LOREKA360° includes voyage and hull optimisation tools
Accelleron’s LOREKA360° suite also includes other digital solutions aimed at vessel and fleet optimisation.
OptiNav AI is a voyage optimisation platform that uses a human-in-the-loop approach involving shore-based teams, while OptiHull focuses on hull and propeller performance.
The individual modules can be deployed separately or as part of the wider LOREKA360° suite for fleet-level optimisation and decarbonisation.
