Nord Gas Solutions to supply regasification module for Excelerate Energy FSRU conversion

Nord Gas Solutions (NGS) has been awarded a contract by Excelerate Energy to supply a regasification system module for the energy company’s first floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) conversion project.

The contract, awarded in July 2026, covers the regasification system module that will be installed aboard Methane Patricia Camila, a 170,000 cbm LNG carrier undergoing conversion into an FSRU.

Regasification module scheduled for 2028 delivery

Under the contract, Nord Gas Solutions will supply the regasification module during the first half of 2028.

The module will form part of the converted FSRU’s system for receiving, storing and regasifying LNG before it is delivered to shore-based gas networks or other receiving infrastructure.

Excelerate Energy is undertaking the project as its first FSRU conversion, expanding its fleet development options beyond purpose-built floating regasification units.

David Liner, Chief Operating Officer of Excelerate Energy, said: “Nord Gas Solutions brings extensive experience designing and delivering regasification systems for the global LNG industry. Combined with our longstanding relationship, their technical expertise made them a natural partner for Excelerate Energy’s first FSRU conversion project.”

Once deployed, the converted FSRU is expected to support increased access to natural gas in the markets where it operates.

Nord Gas Solutions draws on FSRU conversion experience

Nord Gas Solutions said its experience in developing regasification modules for FSRU conversion projects was a key factor in securing the contract.

Pål Steinnes, Head of Sales, Midstream, Nord Gas Solutions, said: ”The award of this important contract was based on our extensive global experience in regas modules for FSRU conversions. We have a strong relationship with Excelerate Energy, and it’s a great honor to once again team up with one of the industry’s most prominent companies on their first conversion project.”

The project will require the integration of the new regasification module into the existing LNG carrier during its conversion into an FSRU.

FSRUs combine LNG storage with onboard regasification equipment, allowing liquefied natural gas to be converted back into gaseous form before being supplied to the receiving market.

Nord Gas Solutions established as new corporate brand

Nord Gas Solutions is the new corporate brand established following the acquisition of Wärtsilä Gas Solutions by Mutares SE & Co.

The acquisition became effective on June 1, 2026. Nord Gas Solutions now operates under the new corporate identity while continuing to provide gas-handling and regasification solutions for the LNG and midstream sectors.
