NTPC Green Energy (NGEL), the renewable energy subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has issued an Expression of Interest inviting green chemical developers to participate in the creation of a 7GW green hydrogen hub at Pudimadaka in Andhra Pradesh.
The company said it is seeking proposals that may include arrangements for land sub-lease, water supply, hydrogen, and biogenic carbon dioxide. The hub is expected to support production of up to 2.5 million tonnes per year of hydrogen-based chemicals, including ammonia, methanol, sustainable aviation fuel, and green urea.
To support this output, the project will integrate 7.5 GW of electrical infrastructure with GIS substations and transmission lines, along with desalination, logistics, storage, port, and other shared facilities. Renewable power for the hub will be supplied by NGEL’s portfolio of projects in Andhra Pradesh. NTPC is targeting 60 GW of renewable capacity by 2032 through solar and wind developments.
Located near Visakhapatnam, the Pudimadaka facility was announced earlier this year by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as India’s first national green hydrogen hub. The project has an estimated investment of 21 billion US dollars.
NGEL confirmed that interested developers have until October 24, 2025, to submit proposals, which will be evaluated immediately after the deadline.
