ONE Deploys Methanol and Ammonia Ready Container Ship on Mediterranean Pacific Service

Ocean Network Express (ONE) has marked the maiden voyage of ONE Solidarity, a methanol- and ammonia-ready container ship, as the carrier continues to expand its fleet of vessels designed for future alternative fuel adoption.

The vessel made its inaugural port call at Shekou, China, marking its entry into commercial service as part of ONE’s next-generation S-series container ship programme.

Alternative Fuel Ready Vessel Supports Decarbonisation Strategy

ONE Solidarity has been designed with the capability to be converted to operate on either methanol or ammonia as marine fuels once bunkering infrastructure and fuel availability mature.

The vessel forms part of the company’s long-term fleet renewal and decarbonisation strategy, which focuses on deploying ships capable of transitioning to lower-carbon fuels as the industry moves toward stricter emissions regulations.

Unlike conventional dual-fuel vessels, the ship is currently configured as methanol- and ammonia-ready, enabling future retrofits when commercial conditions support the adoption of these fuels.

Vessel to Operate on Mediterranean Pacific South 2 Service

Following the introduction of sister vessel ONE Singapore and other ships in the S-series, ONE Solidarity will be deployed on ONE’s Mediterranean Pacific South 2 (MS2) service.

According to the company, the vessel is expected to strengthen capacity on the route while supporting service reliability and operational efficiency across key international trade lanes.
