VO Chidambaranar Port Authority has won national recognition for its green transition, receiving the Indian Chamber of Commerce’s “Excellence in Motion: Re-defining the Future of Logistics in India” award in the “Green and Sustainable Logistics – Decarbonization Champion” category. The honour was conferred at an ICC event held in New Delhi on June 5.
The award cites the port’s integrated green and sustainable logistics programme, spanning green mobility solutions, plans for green methanol bunkering, green hydrogen initiatives and a growing portfolio of renewable energy–driven port projects. In FY 2025–26, renewable sources accounted for about 94% of VOC Port’s total electricity consumption, underscoring the scale of its decarbonisation drive.
Port chairperson Susanta Kumar Purohit said the recognition reflects VOC Port Authority’s continuing focus on environmental sustainability, innovation and operational efficiency. He added that the port will keep scaling up green initiatives to support India’s clean energy transition and long-term maritime decarbonisation goals.
